Anti-Drug Operation: Seizure of Over 53 kg of Cocaine in El Guerguerat

A joint operation between the National Security and Customs services on Saturday evening thwarted an international drug trafficking attempt at the El Guerguerat border post, south of Dakhla, seizing no less than 53.6 kilograms of cocaine.

The drugs were meticulously concealed within the chassis of an international cargo truck bearing foreign license plates. The vehicle, coming from a sub-Saharan African country, was abandoned by its driver inside the border post, according to the General Directorate of National Security.

A preliminary investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor to identify those involved and dismantle any possible network extensions both inside Morocco and abroad.

This seizure is part of the ongoing efforts by Moroccan authorities to combat international drug trafficking and enhance border security, particularly at the strategic El Guerguerat crossing.
