Marrakech, Morocco – Border police at Marrakech Menara International Airport arrested a dual Algerian-French national yesterday, Saturday, following his “indecent” behavior and use of offensive language during a routine security check.
Local sources reported that the suspect, who was undergoing standard inspection procedures applied to all passengers, became inexplicably enraged. He rejected the process and directed insulting and defamatory remarks that targeted the dignity of Moroccans, an act considered a punishable crime under the law.
Police officers intervened immediately and arrested the suspect, transferring him to the airport’s security station. He was subsequently handed over to the Marrakech Judicial Police for the completion of legal proceedings.
A judicial investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, and the detained individual has been questioned. After the initial period of police custody concluded, the public prosecutor’s office decided to extend his detention to further investigate the full circumstances of the case before he is brought to justice.
