Extensive Security Operation Takes Down “Moussa” International Drug Trafficking Network in Nador

Rabat, Morocco – In a broad and coordinated security operation, Moroccan authorities have dismantled a dangerous criminal network specializing in international drug trafficking. The network was led by the drug lord known as “Moussa” in the rural commune of Zeghanghane in the Nador province. The operation resulted in the arrest of 34 network members over the past week.

Details of the Security Operation

The operation was launched following a highly publicized “legendary” wedding party hosted by “Moussa,” which featured celebratory gunfire. This incident triggered a high-alert response from various security services at both central and regional levels. A team of officers from the National Judicial Police Brigade was dispatched to the scene, where they raided the homes of several individuals who appeared in videos of the event.

The initial raids led to the arrest of 23 people, including the kingpin “Moussa” himself. Following further investigation and interrogation, authorities were able to arrest a second group of 11 individuals. Firearms used during the celebration were also seized.

In-depth Investigations and Judicial Directives

The arrested individuals were transferred to the headquarters of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) in Salé. Officers are conducting intensive field and technical investigations to uncover the network’s national and international connections and to confirm their involvement in other crimes.

According to informed sources, the suspects face serious charges, including forming a criminal gang, possessing and using firearms without a license, and international drug trafficking. The Public Prosecutor’s Office has also ordered a deeper investigation into suspicions of bribery, specifically whether the drug lord and his network members offered bribes to public officials in exchange for turning a blind eye to their criminal activities.

It is worth noting that the events surrounding the lavish wedding and the public gunfire prompted significant administrative decisions, most notably the dismissal of the regional commander of the Royal Gendarmerie in Nador, who was reassigned to the General Command in Rabat.

The results of the ongoing investigations will determine the exact nature of the crimes committed. The accused will then be referred to either the financial crimes prosecutor’s office in Fes or the King’s General Prosecutor in Nador for questioning and prosecution to face the appropriate penalties.
