Six People Arrested in Tetouan, Including Two Women, in Cocaine Possession and Trafficking Case Following Intensive Security Raids

The judicial police in Tetouan, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, arrested six individuals, including two women, in the early hours of Saturday, August 9, on suspicion of involvement in the possession and trafficking of cocaine.

The security operation, conducted in cooperation with the Royal Gendarmerie on the outskirts of the city of Ouazzane, led in its first phase to the arrest of a man and his son in the rural area of “El Kharba.” The suspects were found in possession of four slabs of cocaine, with a total weight of 4.6 kilograms.

Ongoing investigations in the case resulted in the arrest of a third member of the same family inside a house in the rural area of “Drader.” He is considered the main suspect in the cocaine trafficking network. The suspect violently resisted and fired shotgun rounds at police officers from an unlicensed hunting rifle before being neutralized and arrested along with another man and two women. The firearm used in the assault, along with two cartridges, was seized.

A search also led to the discovery in the main suspect’s possession of a large bladed weapon, an additional 200 grams of cocaine, two electronic scales, two suspected counterfeit vehicle license plates, and five vehicles believed to have been used to facilitate the criminal activity.

A background check in the national police database revealed that the main suspect was the subject of two nationwide arrest warrants issued by the Royal Gendarmerie in Tetouan for his alleged involvement in similar cases related to drug and psychotropic substance trafficking.

The suspects have been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine all the circumstances, details, and background of the case, as well as to identify any potential further connections to this criminal activity.
