In the streets of Bab al-Morabbae district in Sefrou city, residents’ daily lives have turned into an ordeal due to the proliferation of street vendors occupying public roads. This has caused severe traffic disruption, verbal altercations, and use of profanity, according to a local resident who contacted Fes News via phone call and instant messages.
Photographs captured by Fes News reveal a state of neglect and chaos plaguing the historic neighborhood. The images depict deteriorating old buildings, piles of textiles, boxes, and waste strewn along roadsides, tangled electrical wires, and satellite dishes dotting rooftops. Amid this disarray, street vendors have intensified the suffering by occupying central roadways, making vehicular and pedestrian passage both difficult and hazardous while disrupting the community’s daily peace.
The source confirmed that residents have repeatedly escalated the matter to local authorities, lodging formal complaints about these practices that create tension and instability. However, all attempts proved futile, receiving no substantive response from officials—deepening residents’ frustration and sense of abandonment.
