Abdelilah Benkirane, Secretary-General of the Justice and Development Party, stated that his parents advised him not to work with the “Makhzen” — a term often used to refer to the Moroccan state apparatus or establishment. He emphasized that currently no member of his family works for the official institutions.
This statement came during a press conference held by his party on Friday, addressing the project to expand health coverage and social protection. Benkirane said, “None of us from my family is currently working with the Makhzen.”
Regarding his daughter Somaya, Benkirane denied that she holds any government job, explaining: “Except for Somaya, who entered the job through her own efforts, those who lied about her will face God and must answer for their falsehoods.”
He added, “My daughter is currently not working; she is busy following her husband who went to France.”
