On Wednesday, in the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott, a partnership agreement was signed between the Moroccan Federation of Metal, Mechanical, and Electromechanical Industries and the Mauritanian Federation of Industry, Mines, and Energy. The agreement aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in vital sectors including metal and mechanical industries, energy, and mining.
The signing took place during a seminar organized by both institutions, attended by several officials and representatives from the public and private sectors, including the Moroccan Ambassador to Nouakchott, Hamid Shebar. The event emphasized the importance of establishing a permanent framework for cooperation, exchange of expertise, and skills transfer between economic actors in both countries.
The agreement was signed by Abdelhamid Souiri on behalf of Morocco and Al-Naji Ould Echdou for Mauritania. It aims to facilitate investments and trade exchanges in both directions, encourage the adoption of best practices, and strengthen the capabilities of national enterprises to meet the demands of regional and national markets.
In his speech, Mauritanian Minister of Mines and Industry, Atiam Tijani, described the agreement as “a commendable initiative,” expressing hope that it would serve as a starting point for a fruitful partnership aligned with the high directives of the leaders of both countries, King Mohammed VI and President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
On his part, Rachid Bahi, Director of Various Industrial Activities at the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade, stated that the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views and explore new horizons for industrial cooperation through launching joint investment projects between economic stakeholders from both sides.
According to the organizers, this initiative represents a strategic platform to strengthen economic relations between Morocco and Mauritania, aiming to establish effective partnerships that create added value and contribute to sustainable development in the targeted sectors.
