Moroccan Government Approves Establishment of Defense Industrial Zone Management Company

The Moroccan government has approved the creation of the “Defense Industrial Zone Management Company” under decree No. 2.25.428, published in the Official Gazette on June 9, 2025. This initiative is a partnership between the Agency for Military Housing and Equipment (ALEM) and MEDZ, a subsidiary of the Deposit and Management Fund (CDG).

Background of the Project

The project implements a royal decree establishing two industrial zones dedicated to defense and military industries, based on Law No. 10.20 related to defense and security equipment. A strategic agreement was signed on November 8, 2023, between the Ministries of Economy and Finance, Industry and Trade, National Defense Administration, alongside CDG and ALEM, to activate this vital national project.

Responsibilities of the New Company

The newly formed company, with an initial capital of 300,000 Moroccan dirhams and jointly owned by ALEM and MEDZ, will be responsible for designing, developing, and marketing these defense industrial zones. These zones will focus on attracting and developing industrial activities specialized in the military and defense sectors, thereby strengthening Morocco’s capabilities in this strategic field.

This initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing the national defense industrial infrastructure and supporting Morocco’s autonomy in advanced military and technological industries.
