Farmer Dies in Bab Marzouka Commune After Venomous Snake Bite… Rise in Fatalities Raises Concern in Taza Province

Taza – Fès News

A farmer died on Thursday in the Bab Marzouka commune, part of the Taza province, after being bitten by a venomous snake while working on a farm. The incident has once again raised alarms about the growing number of injuries caused by venomous reptiles in the region.

According to consistent local sources, the victim was rushed in critical condition to the Ibn Baja Provincial Hospital in the city of Taza. Despite medical efforts to save him, the venom had already spread through his body, leading to his death a few hours after arrival.

This tragic event occurred just days after the death of a 12-year-old boy from the Sidi Mghith hamlet in the Ghiyatha Al Gharbia commune, in the Oued Amlil district. He too died after being bitten by a deadly snake, highlighting the recurring nature of such fatal incidents during the hot season.

Local associations and civil society actors are urging the Ministry of Health and relevant authorities to urgently supply rural health centers with anti-venom serums. They are also calling for increased awareness campaigns among residents, especially in mountainous and remote areas that lack essential medical infrastructure.
