Under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the city of Sefrou is hosting the 101st edition of the Hab Al-Molouk Festival from June 11 to 14, 2025. This festival is one of Morocco’s oldest and most renowned cultural events, inscribed since 2012 on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The festival annually celebrates the cherry fruit that Sefrou is famous for, showcasing the city’s rich cultural and civilizational heritage. The program includes diverse artistic and cultural activities such as three days of musical concerts featuring prominent Moroccan artists, the festive parade of the Hab Al-Molouk beauty queen, cultural seminars, heritage exhibitions, Tbourida (traditional equestrian) performances, and social economy fairs highlighting agricultural products and traditional crafts.
As part of the 2025 Hab Al-Molouk beauty queen contest, the organizing committee announced a distinguished jury panel comprising notable figures from the artistic, cultural, and academic fields. The jury includes acclaimed actresses Noura Saqalli and Samia Akriou, alongside Professor Samir Bouzwita, Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences in Fez Saïs. This diverse panel reflects a balance of artistic, cultural, and academic expertise in selecting the festival’s symbolic queen.
The festival enjoys broad participation from local and national stakeholders, despite some criticisms regarding the organization of this edition. Several civil society associations and cultural activists have called for greater local community involvement in managing the festival to preserve its authentic spirit that has defined it for decades.
Nevertheless, the Hab Al-Molouk Festival remains a vibrant platform reflecting the cultural diversity and coexistence of the city’s communities. It also plays a vital role in boosting Sefrou’s economic and tourism activities by attracting thousands of visitors who enjoy the festive atmosphere and the rich traditions that characterize this event.
This edition comes amid the commitment of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication and the Sefrou Municipal Council to support the continuity of this national heritage and strengthen its role as a driver of local development in a city known for its rich historical legacy, ancient walls, and charming old neighborhoods.
In conclusion, the Hab Al-Molouk Festival 2025 is a celebration that unites heritage and identity with aspirations for a prosperous cultural future, reflecting the authenticity and diversity of Morocco.
