Tangier: Investigation Launched Against an Independence Party Parliamentarian Over Forgery of Documents Related to a Private Educational Institution

Judicial sources reported that a parliamentarian from the Independence Party and president of the Beni Makada district in Tangier appeared before the Public Prosecutor at the Tangier Court of Appeal as part of ongoing investigations into allegations of forgery of official documents and the use of illegal stamps linked to a private educational institution he owns.

According to the sources, the National Judicial Police referred the individual to the Public Prosecutor after completing an extensive investigation into a case dating back several years. The case began when the parliamentarian submitted a request for authorization to establish an educational institution within the jurisdiction of the Beni Makada district, which he heads.

Preliminary data indicates that the official submitted documents suspected of being forged to the Ministry of National Education to regularize the legal status of the institution. It was revealed that these documents contained stamps described as illegal. These findings prompted the Tangier regional authority, during the tenure of former governor Mohamed Mehidiya, to file an official complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, leading to the opening of a judicial investigation and the eventual referral of the case to the judiciary.

The same sources stated that the Public Prosecutor decided to release the parliamentarian on bail while imposing a travel ban until the investigation is completed.

During his interrogation, the parliamentarian denied any involvement in forgery, affirming that the documents related to the educational institution are valid and lawful, and that he complied with all applicable procedures. He added that only judicial and security authorities have the authority to verify the authenticity of these documents.

Pending the outcome of the investigations, the competent authorities have closed the educational institution as a precautionary measure. The case will be definitively resolved in due course and may be referred to the Criminal Chamber at the Court of Appeal if the charges against the parliamentarian are proven.
