Tangier police officers arrested a 24-year-old man on the evening of Saturday, June 7, on suspicion of involvement in a hit-and-run traffic accident and dangerous driving that endangered the safety of road users.
The arrest followed a prompt response by the National Security services to a video circulating on social media showing a driver recklessly driving over a traffic island in the city center. An investigation revealed that the suspect had caused a traffic accident resulting in material damage before fleeing the scene in the manner captured in the video.
Security operations led to identifying and apprehending the suspect on Saturday evening. The vehicle used by the suspect was also seized and placed in the municipal impound lot pending further investigation.
The suspect has been held in police custody under judicial supervision, with the investigation ongoing under the authority of the competent public prosecutor to determine all circumstances surrounding the case.
