According to testimonies gathered by Fes News from several citizens, the sight of overflowing bins and scattered waste has become a common scene in various neighborhoods of the area. This poses a public health threat and exacerbates the suffering of the residents, especially in light of rising temperatures.
Local activists have denounced the situation, calling it “unbearable.” They pointed out that “foul odors are spreading everywhere, and there is great fear of disease outbreaks,” simultaneously urging for “immediate intervention by the authorities to halt this environmental deterioration.”
In the same vein, local and community activists have expressed deep concern about the current situation, considering that “waste management in Akknoul suffers from clear dysfunctions that require urgent and fundamental solutions.”
It is worth noting that in recent weeks, residents have staged several protests, calling for improvements in waste collection services, the reinforcement of waste collection fleets, and the adherence to health and environmental standards.
