Moulay Yacoub Province, Morocco – On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the launch of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), inaugurated by King Mohammed VI on May 18, 2005, Moulay Yacoub Province hosted an important gathering to renew commitment to the spirit of this noble royal initiative, which serves as a fundamental lever for achieving social justice and sustainable regional development.
Speakers at the meeting affirmed that the INDH has, since its inception, served as a national reference in integrating vulnerable groups, supporting youth capabilities, and ensuring the convergence of development programs. This has been achieved through an inclusive approach based on proximity and transparency, placing human beings at the core of its focus, and representing a comprehensive and inspiring development model.
Achievements of the Third Phase in Moulay Yacoub Province
The meeting reviewed, in numerical terms, the achievements realized specifically during the third phase of the INDH in Moulay Yacoub Province. A total of 1,240 development projects were implemented, with an overall financial envelope exceeding 471 million Moroccan Dirhams. These projects are distributed across various social and economic programs, including reducing disparities, combating vulnerability, supporting youth economic integration, and strengthening the human capital of rising generations.
These qualitative projects have improved living conditions for the population, particularly in rural areas. Several douars (villages) benefited from water and electricity network coverage, and 382 kilometers of rural roads and passages were opened, contributing to breaking the isolation of residents in 340 douars.
In the education sector, the initiative contributed to improving reception facilities for students by equipping 118 school canteens and health facilities, which significantly encouraged schooling and reduced school dropout rates in rural areas.
Supporting Youth, Health, and Rising Generations
In the context of supporting entrepreneurship and improving youth income, the initiative resulted in the implementation of 304 projects, which created 2,279 direct and indirect job opportunities. The capabilities of project holders were also enhanced within the framework of the income improvement and economic integration program, with the provision of necessary support and training.
In the field of caring for rising generations, the province saw the launch of ambitious projects in early childhood education, with the establishment of 170 early childhood education units benefiting 2,356 children. Additionally, 94 school transport buses were acquired, benefiting 6,714 students annually.
In the health sector, 29 ambulances and 3 mobile medical units were acquired (one for dentistry, another for general medicine, and a third for maternal and child health). This helped diversify and improve health services in the province and increase focus on maternal and child health, benefiting 18,550 residents of the province.
As for the social sector, projects culminated in the establishment and equipping of 15 local social centers aimed at improving care, reception, and support for vulnerable groups, as well as supporting the associations managing these centers, which currently benefit 1,744 beneficiaries.
Collective Commitment and Continued Efforts
Speakers emphasized that commemorating this anniversary represents a renewed opportunity to affirm collective commitment to continuing the implementation of this initiative in accordance with high royal directives, and to mobilize further efforts to ensure project sustainability and create an integrated local dynamism that responds to citizens’ aspirations. Thanks were extended to all partners and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the initiative’s programs, with a call for everyone to increase their mobilization and engagement to live up to this national trust, under the wise leadership of King Mohammed VI.
