Abdel Karim Al-Hams, a parliamentary advisor and head of the Al-Asala wa Al-Ma’rifa (Authenticity and Modernity) group in the House of Councillors, has urged the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation to consider restructuring the Multidisciplinary College in Taza by splitting it into three independent colleges: the Faculty of Legal Sciences, the Faculty of Sciences, and the Faculty of Arts.
This request was made in a written question addressed to the concerned minister, where Al-Hams pointed out that the college, part of Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez, is one of the key educational institutions in the region, playing a vital role in accommodating the increasing demand for higher education.
The parliamentary advisor, who also heads the Aknoul Commune in Taza Province, noted that the college offers 16 basic training programs and 13 master’s degree programs, supported by more than 170 academic staff and around 50 administrative and technical personnel. He also mentioned that the number of students enrolled exceeds 11,290, most of whom are enrolled in the master’s program, highlighting the immense pressure faced by the institution.
Al-Hams emphasized that this growing demand necessitates a new approach to managing the college, ensuring a better distribution of human and educational resources, and improving the learning conditions for students, especially those coming from various regions of the province and neighboring areas.
