Cairo – The Moroccan national under-20 football team has secured a place in the semifinals of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over their Sierra Leonean counterparts. The match took place today, Monday, at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, Egypt.
With this valuable win, the Atlas Lions have also guaranteed their qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be held in Chile next September.
The only goal of the match for the Moroccan national team came via an own goal, scored by Sierra Leonean player Amara Keita in the 115th minute of the first extra time period, after the original 90 minutes ended in a goalless draw.
In the semifinals, the team led by coach Mohamed Ouahbi will face the winner of the match between the Egyptian and Ghanaian national teams.
