Under the theme “Expanding Horizons and Unleashing Minds,” Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane is preparing to host the Festival of Learning on May 9–10, in an academic initiative that aims to bridge the gap between education and real-world application, while enhancing students’ integration into the job market.
According to an official university statement, the event is organized by the School of Science and Engineering and features a mix of final-year project showcases, informational sessions, immediate recruitment opportunities, and presentations of undergraduate research and collaborative initiatives between students, faculty, and industry partners.
The festival will highlight students’ year-long efforts through innovative projects that tackle practical problems using advanced technology, developed in partnership with industrial stakeholders. A major feature of the event is the “Speed Job Dating” session, which enables participating companies to assess and potentially recruit selected students based on their skills and workplace compatibility.
The second day will focus on research outcomes from undergraduate programs, with a special emphasis on quantum machine learning, showcasing the intersection between artificial intelligence and quantum computing through expert-led sessions by Oracle’s R&D center.
The festival will also spotlight the activities of the Undergraduate Research School, a pedagogical structure aimed at involving students early in applied research, guiding them to develop real-world solutions to complex challenges in fields such as industry and management.
A total of 44 students will participate in the festival, with 20 to 30 projects expected to be selected based on their quality and the level of student commitment.
