Rabat – In a strategic move aimed at strengthening the Kingdom of Morocco’s ability to withstand various crises and disasters, work is proceeding apace to establish a network of regional stock and initial reserve platforms across the Kingdom’s regions. This ambitious project aims to develop the national emergency infrastructure and improve the comprehensive crisis intervention system, thereby ensuring greater speed and effectiveness in providing relief and assistance to those affected.
This initiative, which embodies the proactive vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, seeks to enhance Morocco’s capacity to face the challenges posed by natural and industrial disasters, among others. These platforms are expected to bring about a qualitative leap in crisis response mechanisms, as they will work to provide strategic stocks of essential materials and necessary equipment that can be mobilized and deployed immediately to provide the necessary support to affected populations.
Thanks to the comprehensive program for the establishment of these regional stock and initial reserve platforms, Morocco will be able to possess strategic stocks capable of meeting needs exceeding three times what was provided during the recent Al Haouz earthquake. This orientation reflects the Kingdom’s keenness to learn from past experiences and strengthen its preparedness to face any future emergency.
Furthermore, the project aims to develop an integrated national system for the production of equipment and materials necessary for immediate relief operations in the event of disasters. This system will reduce dependence on external sources and ensure the availability of essential supplies in a timely manner.
These regional platforms have been designed with great care, with their locations chosen based on strict safety standards and after an in-depth analysis of the needs of each region of the Kingdom, taking into account the potential risks they may face. The design process also drew upon a study of the best practices and international standards adopted in this field, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of these facilities in achieving the desired goals.
These platforms are expected to bring about a qualitative shift in Morocco’s ability to manage crises and provide support to citizens in times of hardship, thereby strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a regional model in the field of disaster preparedness and response.
