The Baha Mohammed district in the Taounate province witnessed a wide-ranging medical campaign focused on oral and dental health over the past weekend, benefiting more than 1,300 people in just two days of free medical services and health awareness activities.
The initiative, carried out on Saturday and Sunday, May 3–4, brought together the efforts of numerous doctors and volunteers. A total of 58 dentists participated in the campaign, which was held at the indoor sports hall in Baha Mohammed, temporarily converted into a medical center that welcomed hundreds of cases.
This health initiative was the result of a multi-party partnership that included the Taounate Skills Forum, the Regional Association for Kidney Failure Patients, and the “Loub L’Amal” Association of Dentists in Casablanca, with support from the province’s governorate, the Provincial Committee for Human Development, the Provincial Council, the Local Municipality of Baha Mohammed, and the Regional Health and Social Protection Delegation.
The medical interventions covered a variety of treatments, most notably: teeth cleaning, cavity removal, gum disease treatment, tooth extractions, and root canal therapy, in addition to free distribution of medications and awareness workshops on the importance of oral hygiene and preventive care.
Driss El-Wali, President of the Taounate Skills Forum, stated that this was the second campaign of its kind in the province, aimed at addressing the shortage of dental care services, particularly in rural areas. He highlighted that the large number of beneficiaries reflects a pressing need for such initiatives.
Dr. Jawadi Abdelhadi, President of the “Loub L’Amal” Association, emphasized that the campaign combined both treatment and prevention, by raising awareness of oral hygiene as an integral part of a comprehensive health approach.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jawad Abderrahmane, President of the Regional Association for Kidney Failure Patients, noted that the campaign is part of the association’s annual program, aimed at extending health services to underserved communities, with support from the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH).
Many of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the medical care they received and for the direct interaction with specialized doctors, calling for more frequent campaigns to strengthen the local healthcare offering.
