“Unwritten Letters” from Marrakesh-Safi Wins Grand Prize at the Conclusion of the 21st National Educational Film Festival in Fez

Fez – The closing ceremony of the 21st National Educational Film Festival took place on Wednesday at the Regional Center for Training and Forums in Fez, presided over by the Director-General of the General Directorate for the Organization of School Life and the Director of the Regional Academy of Education and Training for the Fez-Meknes region. The event was also attended by the Director of the Regional Center for Professions of Education and Training in Fez, the Regional Directors, the Mayor of Fez, elected officials, academy partners, and prominent figures from the fields of education, cinema, and theater.

The festival aims to establish the Moroccan school as a vibrant space for development, enabling students to showcase, refine, and develop their diverse talents and energies. It also seeks to elevate the artistic taste of learners, create a visual culture that empowers them to understand the connotations of images, and help them deconstruct cinematic discourse and its objectives to utilize its components in various forms of learning. Furthermore, the festival strives to enhance the cognitive and communicative levels of learners by integrating audiovisual media into the educational system.

The festival was organized to activate the reference framework for thematic networking activities in cultural and creative fields among the Regional Academies of Education and Training, and within the context of implementing the objectives and content of the 2022-2026 Roadmap for Reform, particularly the strategic goal related to promoting extracurricular activities and the implementation of its programs, especially the fourth program.

The jury, composed of the esteemed actress Khouloud El Batioui as president, the educational inspector Mohamed Adad as rapporteur, the renowned actor Hicham Bahloul, the creative director Malika Zairi, and the distinguished director and screenwriter Mohamed Fadel El-Jamani as members, announced the following winners:

  • Best Actress Award: Awarded to the lead actress in the film “My Second Father” representing the Moulay Idriss I Community School from the Figuig Directorate in the Eastern Region.
  • Best Actor Award: Awarded to the lead actor in the film “Pen” from the Al Majd School Group in Tiznit, representing the Souss-Massa region.
  • Best Screenplay Award: Awarded to the film “Shores” from the Oulad Faraj School Group in the Fquih Ben Salah Directorate, representing the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region.
  • Best Director Award: Awarded to Said El-Moughari, the director of the film “Lost Security” from the Al-Razi Middle School in the Oued Eddahab Directorate, representing the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region.
  • Grand Prize: Awarded to the film “Unwritten Letters” directed by Hamza Madraki from Al-Rihab Private Institution in the Asfi Directorate, representing the Marrakesh-Safi region.

The jury also gave special mentions to the following films and their actors:

  • The lead actor in the film “Me” from the Cherif Al Idrissi Middle School in the Sefrou Directorate, representing the Fez-Meknes Academy.
  • The lead actor in the film “Bright Darkness” from the Al Maghreb Al Arabi High School in the Berrechid Directorate, representing the Casablanca-Settat Academy.
  • The lead actor in the film “Struggle” from the Lbiar School Group in the Sidi Ifni Directorate, representing the Guelmim-Oued Noun Academy.
  • The lead actress in the film “Asif” from the Assour School Group in the Ouarzazate Directorate, representing the Draa-Tafilalet Academy.
  • The lead actress in the film “Victoria” from the Abdallah Ould Baha School in the Sidi Ifni-Oued Eddahab Directorate, representing the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Academy.
  • The screenplay of the film “Postponed Dreams” from the Imam Muslim Community School in the Oujda-Angad Directorate, representing the Eastern Academy.
