From Washington: Provocative statements about the Moroccan Eastern Sahara, which France annexed to Algerian territory.

Washington D.C., USA – In surprising statements, Charles Dahan, Vice President of the World Moroccan Jewry in the United States, declared that the issue of the Moroccan Western Sahara is “definitively closed” in Washington. He further added that they are now preparing to open the file on the “Moroccan Eastern Sahara, which France annexed to Algerian territories.”

Dahan indicated that “the importance of the Eastern Sahara issue for Moroccans is largely underestimated by the American political elite.” He revealed that an ambitious strategy is underway to get the U.S. Congress to adopt Morocco’s position in a new UN file to reclaim its ancient territories.

These statements come at a time when the Western Sahara issue is witnessing rapid diplomatic developments, raising questions about their impact on relations between Morocco and Algeria.
