New Road Between Taza and Taounate: A Major Project to Break Isolation and Support Development in Mountainous Areas

In April, work commenced on a new road project linking the Kaf al-Ghar area in the Taza province with the Beni Wlid area in the Taounate province, passing through several mountain villages, including Kharouba Ajraoua and Douar al-Mahmida, according to local sources.

This project is part of the Integrated Rural Development Program for the mountainous areas of the Rif foothills. The work began on the first phase, covering 7 kilometers of road connecting Kharouba Ajraoua to Douar al-Mahriyyin, as explained by the same source.

The second phase of the project will involve completing the remaining 7 kilometers to connect Douar al-Mahmida to the Beni Wlid area, significantly improving road connectivity between the two provinces and easing transportation for the local population.

The project is expected to help reduce isolation for several mountain villages and support economic movement between Taza and Taounate, areas with strong trade and social ties. The source also pointed out that Kaf al-Ghar serves as an administrative reference for many citizens in Beni Wlid, who rely on it for their administrative documents, making the road linkage crucial for easier access to services.
