The General Directorate of National Security has reacted with great seriousness to a video circulating on a news website, in which a person claims that the individual accused of committing a murder in the city of Ben Ahmed had committed a similar act in the past, resulting in the death of a 12-year-old girl.
Investigations carried out by security services in response to the video confirmed that it involved a false report and a malicious denunciation intended to undermine citizens’ sense of security. Security services in Ben Ahmed clarified that they had not recorded any incident involving the murder of a girl.
Continued investigations into the matter led to the identification of the person who made the false report. He was arrested in a security operation carried out in Ben Ahmed on Saturday evening.
The suspect is currently in custody, at the disposal of the investigation being conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, to determine all the circumstances of the case and identify all the alleged criminal acts attributed to him.
