The Judicial Police Department of the Regional Security Directorate in Smara has launched a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, initiated midday today, Saturday, April 26th. The investigation aims to determine all the alleged criminal acts committed by a 30-year-old individual with a criminal record, suspected of involvement in a traffic accident combined with the offenses of fleeing the scene, non-compliance, and possession of a white weapon under circumstances posing a threat to people and property.
According to initial findings of the investigation, the suspect was involved in a traffic accident resulting in injuries, and fled the scene using his commercial vehicle. A patrol from the emergency police intervened to apprehend him, but he resisted violently and refused to comply with their orders, using a white weapon.
During this security intervention, the suspect sustained a gunshot wound to the foot, discharged from the firearm of a police officer. This enabled his arrest and subsequent transfer to the hospital to receive necessary medical treatment.
The suspect is currently under medical supervision at the hospital, pending his subjection to a judicial investigation, which will be conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, as soon as his health condition stabilizes. The investigation will aim to uncover all the circumstances surrounding this case and determine all the alleged criminal acts attributed to the individual.
