On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, the headquarters of the urban municipality of Tahla, in the province of Taza, hosted an official meeting dedicated to the establishment of the Local Health Committee at the Level II Urban Health Center, in accordance with the provisions of Framework Law 22-06 related to the national health system.
The meeting culminated in the signing of the Local Health Committee Charter, with the presence of representatives from the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection for the Fez-Meknes region, the Health Ministry delegate in Taza, as well as heads of the health institution networks in Taza, Fez, and El Hajeb, managers of urban health centers in Tahla and Bait Ghulam, along with representatives of local authorities, provincial departments, elected officials, and civil society actors.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech and served as an opportunity to present the achievements of the health sector in the province, particularly highlighting performance indicators of the Tahla Urban Health Center. Detailed presentations were followed by in-depth discussions among stakeholders, who expressed their willingness to actively contribute to improving local healthcare conditions.
The establishment of this committee comes as part of a broader effort to engage all local actors—including public authorities, health institutions, elected officials, and civil society—in the implementation of national health policies at the local level. It also aims to improve health indicators, prevent risks, and overcome social barriers that hinder the achievement of integrated health development.
It is worth noting that this initiative aligns with national and regional directives aimed at gradually activating local health committees across all healthcare institutions, in order to establish effective participatory governance in the management of the national health system.
