Moulay Yacoub Province: A local elected official source has revealed to our newspaper growing discontent among citizens who flocked to the green spaces of Moulay Yacoub province to enjoy the beauty of nature after the recent rains. According to the source, individuals referred to as “parking attendants” have exploited this high turnout to illegally impose “fees” on vehicle owners under the guise of guarding their cars.
The source explained that these individuals, whom some have described as “men in yellow vests” in a possible reference to how they identify themselves, have positioned themselves around well-known scenic natural areas such as #AlArissa, #AinBouali, and #OuladJameh within the province. According to testimonies received by the newspaper, these “attendants” are demanding sums of money from visitors in exchange for “guarding” their vehicles, without any legal basis or authorization from the competent authorities.
This situation has caused resentment among visitors who were surprised by these practices, which they described as “extortion” and “exploitation.” Many indicated that they were forced to pay undue amounts out of fear for their cars, considering that these actions tarnish the image of the tourist area and hinder their enjoyment.
The elected official source stressed that this issue requires urgent intervention from local and security authorities to put an end to these abuses and enforce the law in parking areas, especially in regions experiencing a high influx of visitors. They called for the necessity of legally and clearly regulating the car guarding sector to protect the rights of citizens and ensure they are not subjected to such illegal practices.
These events highlight the need to organize and regulate commercial and service activities in the vicinity of natural and tourist areas to ensure a pleasant and safe experience for visitors and to preserve the beauty of these sites without exploitation or chaos.
