Sabri: HM the King Laid the Foundations for Youth Economic Empowerment Through Royal Speeches, and the Government is Committed to it

Salé: Secretary of State in charge of Employment, Hicham Sabri, affirmed that the High Royal Speeches, most notably the Youth Day speech of 2012, represent a fundamental reference point in outlining the parameters of youth economic empowerment. He pointed out that His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, is the one who sets the major strategies, while government officials bear the responsibility of ensuring their activation and implementation on the ground.

This statement came during Mr. Sabri’s participation in a national scientific symposium organized in the city of Salé in partnership between the Faculty of Law, Economics and Social Sciences (Souissi), the Fqih Tetouani Foundation, and the National Initiative for Human Development, on the theme of “Youth Economic Empowerment: Mechanisms of Support and Motivation Between Reality and Aspiration.”

The Secretary of State in charge of Employment clarified that the unemployment figures announced by the High Commission for Planning reflect a societal challenge that requires concerted efforts and collective engagement from various stakeholders, especially in light of the digital transformation and the rapid economic developments the world is witnessing. He called on young people to trust in their abilities and strive earnestly towards creating self-employment projects and innovative initiatives that contribute to achieving development.

In this context, Hicham Sabri reviewed the contents of the National Employment Plan, for which the government has allocated a significant budget with the aim of reducing unemployment and supporting medium, small, and very small enterprises. He also touched on the employment programs launched by the current government to address the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, and to improve the situation of young people, proposing the strengthening of alternating education within universities and openness to the business world during the study period.

To further enhance the university’s openness to the labor market, Mr. Sabri announced the launch of a joint initiative between the Secretariat of State in charge of Employment and the Faculty of Law in Salé, aimed at building bridges for access to the labor market by providing practical training spaces for students during their university studies.
