Casablanca Police Arrest French National Wanted Internationally for Aggravated Assault

Casablanca – Officers of the Provincial Judicial Police Service in the city of Casablanca successfully arrested a 38-year-old French national of Algerian origin on Thursday, April 10th. The individual was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities for the execution of a prison sentence following his conviction in a case related to aggravated assault and battery.

The suspect was apprehended within the city of Casablanca. During the process of checking his details against the databases of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), it was revealed that he was wanted based on a red notice. This notice was issued to enforce a prison sentence handed down by the French judiciary in mid-2024 in connection with an assault involving the use of a bladed weapon against a group of individuals.

The suspect has been placed in police custody under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office, in accordance with the extradition procedures stipulated by national legislation and relevant international agreements.

This arrest comes within the framework of the General Directorate of National Security’s ongoing and effective engagement in bilateral and multilateral cooperation in security fields. The Directorate pays particular attention to tracking down and apprehending individuals wanted internationally in transnational crime cases, reflecting Morocco’s commitment to strengthening international security and combating organized crime.
