The Al-Salam neighborhood, in the Al-Mariniyyin district of Fes, was shaken this morning, Monday, by a tragic accident that claimed the life of a sixty-year-old woman, after she was struck by a garbage collection truck.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim was sitting near the Al-Tajammouati Mosque at around seven in the morning when she was suddenly hit by the truck, whose driver lost control due to a sudden brake failure.
The accident resulted in severe injuries to various parts of the victim’s body, leading to her immediate death.
As soon as the accident occurred, security personnel rushed to the scene, where they initiated the necessary procedures and filed a report on the incident. The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue at Al-Ghassani Regional Hospital, pending completion of the investigations.
This tragic accident sparked a wave of anger and resentment among the neighborhood’s residents, who demanded an immediate and transparent investigation into the circumstances of the accident, and that those responsible for this tragedy be held accountable.
The accident also renewed questions about the quality of the truck fleet used by the company responsible for managing the cleanliness sector in the scientific capital, amid demands to tighten safety and maintenance standards to prevent similar disasters.
Residents are calling for urgent intervention from the relevant authorities to ensure the safety of citizens and provide a safe environment in residential neighborhoods.
