The Fes News newspaper has received complaints from residents of Douar Talajdout, located in the Maghraoua commune within the Taza province. They have expressed their frustration over the delay in vital projects that were supposed to improve their living conditions. Despite the completion of a rural health center and a multi-purpose center over 16 years ago, funded by the National Initiative for Human Development, these facilities remain closed, raising concerns about the lack of oversight and intervention by the responsible authorities.
According to an informed source, the multi-purpose center was equipped by the National Mutual Aid with modern tools, including sewing machines, chairs, and tables. It was intended to serve as a training space for young women in embroidery, sewing, and weaving, aiming to help them integrate into the labor market and achieve economic independence. However, the center has remained unused, turning into a haven for insects and spiders instead of fulfilling its purpose as a training and production hub.
As for the rural health center, it was meant to ease the burden on patients, particularly pregnant women, children, and the elderly, who are currently forced to travel long distances to reach the Bab El Arbaâ or Maghraoua health centers, despite the difficulties in accessing them. The lack of essential healthcare services has significantly increased the hardships of the local population, leaving them struggling to receive medical care.
The residents are calling on the responsible authorities, particularly the National Mutual Aid administration and the economic department at the provincial level, to take urgent action to activate these projects and investigate the reasons behind their prolonged closure despite being ready for operation for years. They also question the role of the relevant authorities in ensuring that citizens benefit from these long-awaited services.
