Local sources have reported that recent rainfall has exposed structural flaws in the Taza bypass road, with cracks and slopes emerging that hinder traffic and pose a direct threat to commuters’ safety.
Available data indicates that one of the bridges built as part of this project is at risk of collapse due to large cracks, raising serious concerns about the quality of construction and compliance with safety standards. This is especially alarming given that the road was completed less than nine months ago.
In response, human rights organizations, civil society groups, and social media activists have called for an investigation into the matter, demanding accountability for those responsible for these structural failures that endanger citizens’ lives. They also stressed the importance of protecting public funds, arguing that these defects reflect a lack of seriousness among elected and regional officials in Taza and highlight weak oversight of infrastructure projects.
Notably, the Taza bypass road is considered a crucial project aimed at reducing traffic congestion in the city center. However, the rapid emergence of such defects shortly after its completion raises legitimate concerns about the quality standards and monitoring processes during its construction.
