As part of ongoing efforts to protect consumer health and ensure the quality of food products available in markets, a joint inspection committee conducted a monitoring operation at the weekly market in Tahla last weekend. The committee included a veterinary doctor, a representative from the local municipality, and a local authority official.
During the inspection, the committee detected and seized large quantities of spoiled fish, which showed clear signs of decay, posing a serious health risk to consumers. The contaminated fish were immediately confiscated and destroyed following legal procedures, with an official report filed to take further action against the violators.
According to available data, the seized quantities included:
- 7 crates of spoiled sardines
- 103 kilograms of spoiled anchovies
- 113 kilograms of spoiled sardines
- A crate of spoiled bogue fish
This operation is part of intensified monitoring efforts to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, combat threats to public health, and enforce strict legal measures against offenders.
