On the 7th of Ramadan in the year 1446 (2025), the Judicial Center of the Royal Gendarmerie in Bouskoura successfully seized a massive quantity of expired food products from two large trucks. This operation was carried out under the directives of Mr. Abdelmajid El Malkouni, the Regional Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie in Casablanca, supervised by Mr. Zakaria El Kassraoui, the Company Commander, and executed by Mr. Younes Akafi, the Head of the Judicial Center.
The seized items included expired honey bottles and cans of chickpeas, which were destined for a local warehouse to have their expiration dates altered before being distributed to markets and shops. Upon inspecting the two trucks, 8 tons of chickpeas, lentils, honey, canned tomatoes, butter, chocolate, and dates were discovered.
When the gendarmerie forces entered the warehouse, they were met with a shocking discovery: 300 tons of various types of expired consumer goods, some bearing counterfeit labels of international brands. Machines used to forge expiration dates were also found, along with equipment bearing the names of fictitious companies. Additionally, some of the products were infested with rodents, highlighting the severe health risks associated with these goods.
The two managers responsible for the warehouse, who had been overseeing operations without hiring any employees to avoid detection, were arrested. Following notification of the public prosecutor and the presence of representatives from the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA), the 8 tons of seized goods in the trucks were destroyed. The warehouse was sealed by order of the public prosecutor, and a judicial guardian was appointed. The total value of the expired and counterfeit goods is estimated at 2 billion centimes.
The role of the Judicial Center of the Royal Gendarmerie is not limited to combating expired goods alone; it is also committed to fighting all forms of crime, whether during the holy month of Ramadan or throughout the year. Despite attempts by owners of secret warehouses to evade surveillance, the center remains vigilant in enforcing the law, emphasizing that all citizens are equal before it.
According to informed sources, some owners of secret warehouses have begun attempting to leave the area out of fear of sudden raids.
A group of civil and public figures praised the efforts of the Judicial Center of the Gendarmerie, affirming that the residents of Bouskoura and its surroundings are proud of the work of Mr. Younes Akafi and his team. On the other hand, local residents expressed their relief, stating: “We feel completely safe thanks to the efforts of the center’s commander, Mr. Younes Akafi, and his team, who patrol the area until midnight. I can move freely in the streets of Bouskoura without fear, thanks to the presence of the Royal Gendarmerie.”
This operation highlights the significant efforts made by security forces to protect citizens’ health and combat all forms of crime, reinforcing trust in the performance of security agencies and underscoring the importance of vigilance in confronting such illegal practices.
