Houcine Youaabed, the head of the communication department at the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM), provided insights into the severe weather conditions currently affecting Morocco.
In an interview with Le Site Info, the official confirmed that the Kingdom is experiencing moderate disturbances across the country, with more intense conditions in the north and the Rif region.
“These disturbances are caused by a deep atmospheric depression named ‘Jana’ by the Spanish meteorological agency. It has already affected western and southern Europe before reaching Morocco,” explained Youaabed.
The department head emphasized that this depression, accompanied by cold air masses, will extend from Portugal to Morocco between Sunday and Tuesday. This will result in severe weather conditions in several regions of the Kingdom, particularly the north, center, east, Atlas areas, and southern provinces.
Youaabed urged Moroccans to remain vigilant and regularly follow weather updates and official instructions to ensure their safety.
