Morocco or Belgium? Chemsdine Talbi Makes His Choice

Belgian-Moroccan winger Chemsdine Talbi, who plays for Club Brugge in Belgium, has made his final decision regarding the national team he wishes to represent, marking good news for Moroccan football fans.

The 19-year-old Talbi has chosen to wear the Atlas Lions jersey over the Red Devils (Belgian national team). This decision was revealed by Nordin Jbari, a former Belgian international and sports analyst, who confirmed that Talbi personally informed him of his choice.

During his appearance on the show “Complètement Foot” on Sunday, Jbari stated, “I was in Ghent-Brugge on Saturday and met Talbi before the match. I asked him which national team he had chosen, and he simply replied, ‘Morocco, and I’ve already told everyone.'”

Media sources also revealed that Talbi began the process of changing his sporting nationality last September, a move that is expected to be approved by FIFA soon. Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri added that the young player “is already on Walid Regragui’s preliminary list for the Moroccan national team’s March camp.”

It is worth noting that Talbi recently caught the eye during the Champions League round of 16 match against Atalanta Bergamo, where he scored two goals that helped his team qualify for the quarter-finals of the continental competition.

The question now is: Will we see him soon with the Atlas Lions? The Moroccan national team, led by Regragui, is set to gather for two matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. They will face Niger on March 21 and then head to Tangier to play Tanzania on March 25 at the Honneur Stadium in Oujda.

This decision represents another boost for the Moroccan national team, which continues to build a promising generation of young players carrying high hopes for new achievements on the international stage.
