The Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatima Zahra Ammor, has confirmed that the ministry is working on developing tourism in the Taza region through projects aimed at enhancing its natural and cultural assets.
In a written response to a parliamentary question, Ammor stated that the development of natural and cultural tourism in Taza includes the enhancement of key sites such as the Friouato and Chaara caves, as well as the creation of specialized tourism routes in mountain and nature areas.
To support this effort, a partnership agreement has been signed between the Ministry of Tourism, the Wilaya of Fes-Meknes, the Regional Council, and the Moroccan Agency for Tourism Engineering. The agreement aims to finance and implement thematic tourism circuits to increase the attractiveness of natural sites and improve tourism guidance services.
The minister also emphasized that Taza is included in the regional implementation contract for the national tourism roadmap, which focuses on supporting tourism investments, upgrading accommodation facilities, and launching promotional programs. Additionally, plans are underway to establish a Regional Development Company responsible for managing tourism and cultural activities.
These initiatives are part of the new tourism roadmap, designed to offer a comprehensive tourism experience, strengthen the tourism sector in Fes-Meknes, and make Taza a more attractive destination for visitors.
But Will These Projects Materialize?
While these plans sound promising, the real challenge lies in their execution. Similar announcements have been made in the past, but implementation delays and funding challenges have often hindered progress. The success of these projects will depend on effective coordination between stakeholders, timely funding, and sustained governmental commitment.
