HAM / Here are the school timings in Moroccan schools during the holy month of Ramadan

The Ministry of National Education, Primary Education and Sports announced amendments to the study times in educational institutions during the holy month of Ramadan 1446 AH (2025 AD), in line with the government’s decision to return to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) throughout the holy month, instead of the current time (GMT+1).

Adjustments to the schedule

According to the official note issued by the ministry, the start of classes in the morning period will be delayed by half an hour, while the exit time in the evening period will be brought forward by the same amount of time, while the duration of classes will remain the same with breaks to ensure a smooth organization of school time.

Study times in preparatory and preparatory secondary schools

The memorandum specifies the study times in the preparatory and qualifying secondary education streams as follows:

Morning period: The first class starts from 08:40 to 09:25, followed by the second class from 09:30 to 10:15, the third class from 10:25 to 11:10, and the fourth class from 11:15 to 12:00.
Evening period: The first class starts from 12:30 to 13:15, followed by the second class from 13:20 to 14:05, the third class from 14:15 to 15:00, and finally the fourth class from 15:05 to 15:50.
Special timings for Friday

Due to the peculiarity of Friday, the ministry has adopted a special timing, where classes will start at 08:30 am, with breaks between classes, giving students a proper opportunity to perform prayers and rest.

The ministry emphasized the possibility of adapting these times according to the specificities of each region, while adhering to the general framework of school time, to ensure a balance between the requirements of study and the peculiarities of the holy month of Ramadan. It also called on officials of educational institutions to take the necessary measures to effectively implement these amendments, with the aim of providing a comfortable learning environment that helps students achieve academic achievement under the atmosphere of Ramadan.
