Major Development Projects in Ifrane: Provincial Governor Holds Crucial Meeting with Municipal Council

As part of his ongoing communication efforts, the Governor of Ifrane Province, Idriss Misbah, held a key meeting last weekend with members of the Ifrane Municipal Council at the territorial commune headquarters. This meeting was the final stop in a series of discussions aimed at fostering dialogue between local authorities and elected councils to address development challenges and explore practical solutions.

In his opening remarks, Governor Misbah emphasized the importance of this meeting, stressing the need to identify obstacles hindering development in Ifrane and find concrete solutions to implement planned projects. He urged council members to present their proposals in a clear and practical manner to ensure they can be addressed within the available resources.

Municipal Council President Abdessalam Lharar expressed the residents’ aspirations for improved essential services, particularly in healthcare, education, infrastructure, culture, and tourism. He reaffirmed the council’s strong commitment to achieving balanced and comprehensive development in the city.

Abdelwahid Lharar, Director of Municipal Services, outlined the strategic development plan, highlighting a future program that includes 102 projects, funded through self-financing and multi-stakeholder partnerships. These projects aim to enhance infrastructure, support cultural and sports activities, strengthen social services, and develop local skills, with a total investment of 1.09 billion MAD, including 89.95 million MAD from the municipality.

As part of efforts to strengthen the healthcare sector, the regional director of the Ministry of Health announced the imminent opening of the Day Hospital in Ifrane, which had faced years of delays. This facility is expected to significantly improve the local healthcare system.

In the cultural sector, the regional delegate of the Ministry of Culture revealed that the long-awaited Cultural Complex is also set to open soon, marking a major milestone in Ifrane’s cultural landscape by hosting diverse events and programs.

During the meeting, new projects were presented to the governor, including the redevelopment of Atlas 1 district (formerly Timdikin) with a budget of 30 million MAD, aiming to improve infrastructure and rehabilitate essential facilities. Another project focuses on upgrading the PAM and Bir Anzaran neighborhoods, with an allocated budget of 22 million MAD, co-financed by the municipality, the provincial council, and the Ministry of National Planning and Urban Development.

The session featured an open discussion where municipal council members highlighted the economic, social, cultural, and sports-related challenges facing the city. They also put forward practical proposals to overcome obstacles and enhance the quality of public services.

In conclusion, Governor Misbah reaffirmed the commitment of local authorities to supporting development projects and ensuring the necessary conditions for their success. He stressed the importance of coordination among all stakeholders to achieve the set objectives within a comprehensive and sustainable development vision.
