A Spanish journalist and YouTuber were expelled by Moroccan authorities upon their arrival in the city of Laayoune.
According to Spanish sources, the journalist is Asier Aldea, and the YouTuber is Rama Jutglar. The two Spanish nationals had arrived in Dakhla last Saturday on a Ryanair flight from Madrid. The following day, they were prohibited from getting off the bus upon arriving in Laayoune.
One of them told Spanish media, “We arrived in Casablanca after the Moroccan police prevented us from entering Laayoune on Sunday. We had to spend Monday in Agadir and took a flight with a stopover in Casablanca. An hour before boarding, they asked for our passports. Since then, we’ve been detained here.”
Eventually, the two took a flight from Casablanca back to Madrid. Their case echoes that of some Spanish journalists who arrived in Dakhla a few weeks ago via Ryanair’s new air route, before being arrested and then expelled via Agadir.
