The Republic of Iraq reiterated, on Saturday, its steadfast position in support of Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, expressing its satisfaction with the international momentum backing the autonomy plan as a solution to the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
This statement was made by Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, during a joint press conference following his talks in Rabat with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita. The official position was emphasized in the joint communiqué adopted by both parties.
The Iraqi diplomat also praised the efforts made by Morocco to achieve a realistic political solution based on consensus, in line with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. This support is seen as a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and reaffirming Iraq’s consistent stance on regional issues.
