Multidisciplinary Medical Caravan Supports Rural Communities in Taza Amid Harsh Cold Waves

In line with the royal directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, aimed at providing support to residents of areas affected by severe cold waves, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection’s delegation in Taza organized a multidisciplinary medical caravan on Thursday, January 23, 2025, in the Tamatorcht area, part of the Boulmane commune. This event is part of the “Raya” program, which supports national efforts to combat the effects of extreme cold and strengthen healthcare in remote regions.

The health caravan, coordinated with the Taza provincial authorities and local officials, and under the supervision of the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection in the Fes-Meknes region, saw the active participation of specialized medical teams, including doctors, nurses, and administrative staff, equipped with the necessary logistical resources to provide comprehensive medical services. Medicines were distributed free of charge to all patients according to the prescriptions provided, ensuring the success of this humanitarian initiative.

A total of 754 individuals from various age groups benefited from the caravan, receiving a wide range of medical checks. These included general medical consultations (115 visits), gynecological exams (48 visits), and 13 ultrasounds for pregnant women. Additionally, 33 breast cancer screenings and 26 cervical cancer screenings were conducted, with 3 cases referred for further medical follow-up.

The caravan also focused on chronic disease detection, identifying 44 cases of diabetes and 87 cases of hypertension. Furthermore, 315 awareness consultations were held, providing health education on disease prevention and general health practices. The event also served as an opportunity to vaccinate 8 children against measles, as part of efforts to complete immunization schedules for 78 children under 18.

This health initiative received a warm reception from the local community, who expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the Ministry of Health and Social Protection’s efforts in providing essential healthcare to the region.
