Under high royal instructions, Morocco has announced a comprehensive mobilization to address the cold wave affecting several regions of the country. The Ministry of Interior has coordinated with various ministries and relevant administrations to implement emergency measures aimed at supporting citizens and assisting them in coping with these difficult weather conditions.
Walis (governors) of the affected regions and provincial governors have been directed to monitor developments in the situation and coordinate intervention operations, as well as take proactive and preventive measures. In this context, a command and monitoring center has been established at the Ministry of Interior, along with provincial committees to oversee the situation, as part of a national plan developed for the winter season 2024-2025.
This plan targets approximately 872,778 individuals distributed across 169,134 households in 2,014 douars, covering 241 territorial communes in 28 prefectures and provinces. The Ministry of Interior, through its central and provincial services, is working to enhance intervention capacity according to circumstances through a series of measures that include continuous monitoring and evaluation of the situation on the ground, ensuring normal supply of essential goods and heating means to the affected regions.
The measures also include organizing operations for distributing food aid, blankets, and firewood to targeted families in the concerned provinces. Additionally, efforts are being made to provide immediate interventions for populations in critical situations and to ensure continued connectivity between affected areas and road and telephone networks.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirms the comprehensive mobilization of all relevant services and authorities in execution of the royal instructions aimed at alleviating the burden on citizens and providing all necessary forms of support and assistance to face potential damages caused by adverse weather conditions, while mobilizing all necessary means and resources to ensure the safety of citizens and their properties.
