Confirmed Neutralization of Salamou Mohammed Fadel, Polisario Front Commander, by Drone Strike in Buffer Zone

In a significant military operation, the Moroccan armed forces have confirmed the neutralization of Salamou Mohammed Fadel, a commander of the Polisario Front, along with other militia members linked to the Algerian proxy. This drone strike occurred in the Haouza region within the buffer zone, marking a notable escalation in the ongoing conflict.

Salamou had previously issued threats against Morocco in a propaganda video filmed in Algeria, highlighting the tensions between the two sides. The recent drone strike by the Royal Armed Forces successfully targeted a vehicle belonging to Polisario militia members who were attempting to approach the sand wall from the Haouza sector.

This operation underscores Morocco’s commitment to maintaining security and territorial integrity in the region. The use of advanced drone technology reflects a strategic shift in military tactics aimed at countering threats from the Polisario Front and its affiliates. As hostilities continue, both parties remain entrenched in their positions, with Morocco controlling approximately 80% of Western Sahara while the Polisario demands a referendum as stipulated by UN resolutions.
