The Ministry of Justice organizes the “First Forum for South-South Cooperation between African-Atlantic Countries in the Field of Justice”

In order to recall the bonds of historical and civilizational relations that link the Kingdom of Morocco with its continental surroundings, to enhance African integration and South-South cooperation, and to activate joint cooperation, the Ministry of Justice organized the International Conference of the First Forum for South-South Cooperation between African-Atlantic countries in the field of justice in Rabat, on April 22 and 23, 2024. In Rabat, which witnessed the participation of justice ministers and ambassadors from many African countries overlooking the Atlantic coast.

This forum aims to monitor current trends in cooperation in fields related to justice and anticipate its future mechanisms, according to a systematic and comprehensive approach that aims to confront the challenges facing the countries of the region, by discussing the following topics:
Combating terrorism and transnational organized crime through the exchange of information, experiences and best practices in this field;
Combating maritime piracy;
Promoting a culture of human rights;
Attracting investments and protecting the economy;
Supporting legal and judicial initiatives aimed at ensuring a balance between sustainable development and environmental protection.
Strengthening judicial cooperation mechanisms.

This meeting comes within the framework of the Ministry of Justice’s efforts to strengthen ties of friendship, facilitate legal and judicial cooperation, and exchange knowledge, experiences and best practices, in a way that serves the interests of various member states, especially with regard to technical and administrative aspects, and areas of modernizing the judicial administration and strengthening its governance.

The Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Wehbe, stated in this context that “this agreement is a continuation of the first Rabat Declaration of the series of African-Atlantic countries dated June 8, 2022. We consider it a great appreciation for the strong historical partnership that links the Kingdom of Morocco with these member states, and through it the path of justice will be strengthened across Strengthening the bonds of cooperation and integration in order to consolidate peace, security, stability and common prosperity in the region.”
