The University of Fez hosts the International Day of Engineering Research on “The Roles of Energy in Supporting Sustainable Development”

The Higher School of Technology at the University of Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdullah Fez, in cooperation with the Center for Thinking, Research and Proposal, organizes the first edition of the International Day of Engineering Research, which bears the slogan “Energy and its role in supporting sustainable development in the Kingdom of Morocco”, in line with the royal directives, and in implementation of the regional recommendations that the university considers a lever. For development, this conference aims to highlight innovations and clarify advanced technologies in the field of energy and their contribution to moving the wheel of sustainable development within the country, through a group of lectures that will be presented by an elite group of national and international experts specialized in the field of nuclear energy and renewable energies.

The International Day of Engineering Research will begin on April 16, 2024, starting at nine o’clock at the Higher School of Technology in Fez, in the presence of officials from the University of Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdullah in Fez, the director of the Higher School of Technology, Professor Mohamed Karim, the head of the Center for Thinking, Research and Proposal, and the directors of specialized scientific laboratories at the University of Sidi Mohammed Ben Abd. God-Fez.

The first lecture at the conference will be by Dr. Al-Khimar Merabet, one of the pioneers in the field of nuclear energy, in which he will highlight the role that nuclear technologies can play in achieving environmental and economic sustainability in Morocco. In his lecture, he will discuss how these technologies can be used not only in power generation, but also in areas such as water treatment and agriculture.
He will be followed by Dr. Victor Mazrebov, an international expert in nuclear energy applications, who will focus his lecture on the water desalination project carried out by Rosatom using floating nuclear units, and how this technology contributes to providing sustainable and reliable sources of fresh water to areas suffering from water scarcity.

The series of seminars will conclude with a lecture by Professor Dr. Abdel Majeed Jamil, which will address the latest developments in the field of renewable energies in Morocco. In his lecture, he will present a summary of ongoing research and projects that aim to enhance the use of solar and wind energy, and how these energies contribute to reducing dependence on fossil fuels and enhancing energy independence in the country. The country.

This day represents a valuable opportunity for specialists, researchers, political actors and decision-makers to interact with international experts, and to gain a deeper understanding of the scientific mechanisms and methods that can effectively contribute to Morocco’s progress towards a more sustainable future through engineering and technological developments in the field of alternative energies, to achieve the development sought by scientific frameworks.
