Urban rehabilitation and public park construction project in the city of El Hajeb

FES NEWS MEDIA – PROVINCE OF EL HAJEB: The city of El Hajeb and urban centers across the Province of El Hajeb are witnessing steady progress during October 2026 in the implementation of urban rehabilitation projects and the enhancement of public parks and natural recreational spaces that characterize the gateway to the Middle Atlas, carried out under partnership agreements uniting the Province of El Hajeb, the El Hajeb Provincial Council, concerned territorial communes, and the Fez-Meknes Regional Council.

These field projects aim to strengthen the ecological and tourism appeal of El Hajeb, upgrade city entrances and main thoroughfares, modernize public street lighting with energy-efficient LED systems, create family and youth recreational spaces, and integrate street vendors into model proximity markets that preserve professional dignity and free up municipal public domain.

2027 Budget Committee Debates and Uncollected Fiscal Arrears Across El Hajeb Communes

Parallel to these urban works, meetings of the permanent committees in charge of Finance, Budget, and Programming across several communes of the province—most notably the communes of El Hajeb, Sabaa Ayoune, and Ain Taoujdate—featured detailed deliberations over the preparation of 2027 municipal budgets, where councilors highlighted the need to reduce uncollected municipal tax arrears and review municipal property leases to mobilize additional capital investment resources.

Civil society actors and residents in the centers of Sabaa Ayoune, Ain Taoujdate, Agourai, and Boufakrane are also calling for faster paving of underserved neighborhoods, reinforcement of liquid sanitation networks, and improved waste management and primary healthcare services, while the right of reply and clarification remains guaranteed to municipal council presidents across El Hajeb Province to present their development balance sheets.
