Meknes Judicial Police Open Investigation Into Police Officer Accused of Extortion and Bribery Request

The Provincial Judicial Police Department in Meknes, under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor, opened a judicial investigation on the afternoon of Monday, September 8, to determine the criminal acts attributed to a distinguished police officer working in the same city, who is suspected of involvement in a case of extortion and requesting a monetary bribe.

Preliminary information revealed that the suspect was caught in the act of extorting one of the parties involved in a criminal case, based on a prior complaint filed by the victim.

To complete the judicial investigation, the police officer was placed under judicial custody according to the instructions of the competent Public Prosecutor, to uncover all the circumstances and backgrounds related to the case.

On the administrative level, the General Directorate of National Security issued a decision to suspend the officer temporarily from work pending the conclusion of the ongoing judicial procedures against him, in preparation for imposing administrative sanctions stipulated in the legal framework governing national security employees.
