Al-Bakkali: Awaiting Solutions for Bus File and Latest Updates on Cultural Complex (Video)

Fez – Abdel Salam Al-Bakkali, President of the Fez Municipal Council, highlighted the progress made in the public transportation file, noting that studies are underway in collaboration with a specialized office. He stated: “We are currently working with the studies office and will soon travel to Fez to receive the proposed routes.” He pointed to the completion of the Sidi Ibrahim station’s development to accommodate new buses, with emphasis on protecting vehicles from wear caused by potholes. He added that a new batch of buses is pending, stressing continuous coordination between the governorate, Ministry of Interior, the contracted company, and the council to ensure service launch soon.

The official also revealed that the Cultural Complex has reached its final stages, with the main façade completed. He indicated that work teams have been operating inside the complex for over four months to finalize the platform and technical systems. “We hosted artists to visit the site and guide the contractor on sound and lighting requirements,” he said, expecting completion within three months.

However, he acknowledged insufficient lighting, particularly on Sefrou Road and some alleys, despite receiving resident complaints. He clarified that public lighting maintenance falls under the jurisdiction of districts, though the council stands ready to intervene in emergencies. Responding to observations about the “Green Strip” between Arouiat and the Cultural Complex, he pledged to study adding pedestrian walkways to enhance safety.

In preparation for hosting the Africa Cup of Nations, the council unveiled a massive project for household waste treatment. The official stated: “We will sign a 10 billion centime agreement with the regional company to build a specialized plant for processing tons of waste.” He added that the facility will employ advanced evaporation and mechanical treatment techniques, emphasizing the project will eliminate foul odors disturbing residents near the Grand Stadium.

Concluding, the official praised the urban development that satisfied Fez residents, especially with summer tourist arrivals. “Praise be to God, the city’s development has pleased everyone, and as a council we work in full coordination,” he said. Nevertheless, he acknowledged challenges like road and lighting maintenance, reaffirming the council’s readiness to cooperate with districts to resolve them.
