The Morocco women’s national team, known as the Atlas Lionesses, is set to face Ghana this Saturday at 8:00 PM local time at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, in the semi-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Coach Jorge Vilda has revealed the starting lineup ahead of this highly anticipated match. The Atlas Lionesses have delivered an impressive performance throughout the tournament, showcasing a solid defense, a sharp attack, strong team cohesion, and resilience, positioning themselves as one of the favorites to win the title.
Meanwhile, Nigeria has already secured their place in the final after defeating the defending champions South Africa 2-1 in the other semi-final held last Tuesday at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca. Nigeria opened the scoring through Rasheedat Ajibade (45th minute, penalty), while South Africa’s Linda Motlhalo equalized in the 60th minute. With the match heading towards extra time, Michelle Chinwendu Alozie scored the winning goal in injury time (90+4).
Nigeria had reached the semi-finals by crushing Zambia 5-0, while South Africa advanced after defeating Senegal 4-1 on penalties following a goalless draw after extra time in the quarter-finals.
