This Monday morning, the vicinity of the Regional Academy of Education and Training for the Casablanca-Settat region, located in the Hay Hassani district, witnessed a protest organized by a group of parents expressing their dissatisfaction with their children’s results in the make-up session of the baccalaureate exams for the current academic year.
The protesters raised slogans demanding justice and transparency, expressing surprise at the grades they considered “unfair” and not reflective of their children’s true academic level. They also called for the re-evaluation of exam papers, access to review them, and clarification regarding the grading criteria used.
Participants in the protest stated that their action came after exhausting all official communication channels, accusing the concerned authorities of negligence in addressing their repeated complaints, and demanding a transparent investigation into what they described as “possible irregularities” in the grading process.
In a related development, a source from a parents’ association explained that existing laws guarantee students the right to appeal baccalaureate results, whether for the national or regional exams. The Ministry of National Education has opened an official online platform allowing affected students to submit appeals and track their cases transparently and institutionally.
The source added that while this administrative procedure aims to safeguard students’ rights, it may require some time due to the volume of requests and the nature of the procedures involved, urging families to remain calm and responsible in dealing with the situation.
Regarding the protest, the source emphasized that families have the right to express their opinions and raise questions within a framework of respect and institutional procedures, stressing that discussions about exam results should be based on objective data, away from unconfirmed accusations or premature doubts about the work of educational committees.
These protests come at a time when the number of students who passed the baccalaureate exams this season has exceeded 311,000, including nearly 60,000 who successfully passed the make-up session, according to official data from the Ministry of National Education.
The competent authorities are expected to respond to the submitted appeals within the applicable legal and regulatory frameworks to preserve the credibility of the exams and ensure equal opportunities for all candidates.
